Marie Stevenson
In addition to being a wife and mother of two daughters, I am a business systems architect, database developer, and operations executive with more than three decades of experience designing, automating, and managing the internal systems that allowed our company to function efficiently, scale responsibly, and serve tens of thousands of customers.
After marrying Craig in 1989, I assumed responsibility for the bookkeeping and accounting functions of his businesses. My work quickly expanded beyond traditional accounting to include customer invoicing, customer contact management, receptionist duties, payroll processing, credit applications, line-of-credit administration, and preparation of business tax returns. From the outset, my role required both precision and trust—errors were not an option.
Programming
In 1992, I began writing custom software applications using the Basic, Pascal, and Delphi programming languages. Some of these applications were developed for our own internal use and remained in service for many years. Others were packaged and distributed as shareware in the retail marketplace. This work marked the beginning of a long career focused on designing systems that reduce human error, improve efficiency, and create reliable records.
Marketing and Sales
By mid-2000, I was deeply involved in the development of our company website and the marketing of new products through third-party online marketplaces. Since that time, I have been responsible for sales operations, technical support, inventory procurement, stock management, order fulfillment, domestic and international shipping, and tracking. I also developed working knowledge of export shipping requirements, including customs clearance procedures and NAFTA compliance for shipments to Canada.
To support these expanding responsibilities, I wrote numerous macros, scripts, and custom database applications to automate repetitive and error-prone tasks within our business. After approximately 2010, all business invoices were generated automatically using macros I designed, programmed, and implemented. These systems enabled us to reliably serve more than 90,000 unique customers over the course of more than 35 years in business—without sacrificing accuracy or accountability.
My Role as a Database Developer
Over the past 15 to 20 years, my work has increasingly focused on database design and development using FileMaker Pro, a platform marketed and sold by Claris. I have designed and maintained dozens of custom FileMaker Pro databases for both business and personal use. These databases support a wide range of functions, including asset tracking, bank reconciliations, customer contact management, call logging, inventory management, shipment tracking, investment tracking, health detail records, sales trend analysis, tax filing logs, and even personal recipe cataloging. I have used my programming skills to market STSI’s inventory through common eCommerce channels such as Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and Newegg.
In developing these systems, I have designed both flat-file and relational databases, written custom scripts to import data from multiple formats, created export routines to interface with third-party marketplaces, and implemented specialized scripts to perform tailored functions unique to each application. I also personally manage network security and access controls for every database, ensuring that sensitive information is protected and that access privileges are carefully controlled.
Chief Financial Officer at STSI
Today, I serve as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer of Stevenson Technical Services, Incorporated (STSI) in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. My work has always centered on building systems that are transparent, auditable, and dependable—systems that tell the truth about what happened, when it happened, and why.
Justice-Denied.Org
Those same principles guide my work with Justice-Denied.org, where I serve as the Managing Editor and Research Contributor. Accurate records, reliable data, and disciplined analysis are essential—not only in business, but in any system that claims to deliver fairness and accountability.
